Parent Information

The main goal of the Grandview High School Baseball Program is to develop quality student-athletes both on and off the field, win games honorably and with class, and improve every day.
Team Goals
1.     Win the CWAC 2a State Championship.
2.     Win District Championship.
3.     Win Our Conference.
4.     Win 10-15 games.
5.     Play hard and Have Fun.
Team Expectations:
-          Be consistent with effort and concentration.
-          Put the team ahead of personal goals.
-        You are expected to be at ALL practices and games on time. Unexcused absences from team activities will likely result in missed playing time. Injured players must abide by this rule as well. (Schedule routine doctor/dentist appointments around the practice schedule.)
-        The use of drugs, alcohol, performance enhancing substances and tobacco will not be tolerated.
 -          Be a supportive teammate throughout the entire year.
-        Practices/games are scheduled Monday-Saturday throughout the entire season. Weekday practices will typically run from 3-5:00.
 -          Be accountable for each and every action taken, both good and bad.
-        The use of foul or abusive language during practices or games will not be tolerated. Opponents, officials, coaches and spectators must be treated with respect.
 -          Know your role and fulfill it to the best of your ability.
-        Team members are expected to attend all of your classes every day and work to the best of your ability in each class. Remember, you are a student first.
-        VACATIONS: The baseball schedule extends through the Spring break vacation. Team members are expected to attend all practices and games during this vacation period.
-        Team members are expected to conduct themselves in a gentlemanly manner at all times. The privilege of participating in Grandview Baseball carries with it the responsibility of good image at school and in the community.

Classroom Expectations:

-         Punctuality, behavior, and grades must be in good standing.
-          It is your responsibility to improve grades to be eligible.
-          Academics are your #1 priority as a student-athlete; however, you must make every effort to manage your time to avoid conflicts between school and baseball.

Practice Expectations:

-          Be on time and in attendance.  You must notify a coach in advance if you will not be at practice and have a valid excuse.
-          Proper practice attire (hat, practice pull over jacket, once the season begins to warm up shirts may be worn during practice- either black, maroon, or grey, practice pants, and proper shoes) must be worn at all practices.
-          Give 100% effort at all times, allow yourself to be coachable, and improve every time you set foot on the field, in the cage, or in the gym.

Game Expectations:
-          Be on time and prepared for each game.  If it is an away game, make sure you are not holding up the bus and have all your equipment.  If it is a home game, make sure you are at the field in time to set field up, warm-up, participate in batting practice, and bring the equipment for which you are responsible for.
-          Know your pre-game, in-game, and post-game responsibilities.  We must all work together and each do our job to make this a top-notch program.
-          Be in the game, even if you are not in the lineup.
-          Make the effort to do the very best of which you are capable.

I expect all players to follow these team rules and agree with everything that was covered in this contract and sign below with a parent signature. This gives me confidence that the player understands what I expect from each player.
For all players and parents here is my cell number if you have any questions or to contact me for any reason. (509)305-0142. I am open for team dinners this year and need parents to help setting up a schedule. If you would like to help with anything this season please give me a call.

Coach Joe Mora
